Poisoned bolts?
« on: June 06, 2011, 08:55:28 pm »

I was wondering about this, but is there any practical way to coat crossbow bolts in the toxic fluids forgotten beasts leave everywhere?

The plan I had was to a modified version of the gas chamber plan I saw once.

With the beast behind a fortification, with a hatch to drop kittens in.

Then in front of the fortification a pit to place the bolts in.

Drop kittens in to get the FB to fire it's breath weapon and coat the bolts in poison, repeat a couple of times to be sure.

Then use burrows to assign bolt carriers, and equip them with gloves via military screen, and then have your marksdwarves do the same. and then you have batches of toxic bolts. have a cleaning trench between the toxic areas and the inner fort and your golden.

The least you could have done was throw down some booze and seasoning. Abyssal Monsters that Creatures of the Light Know Not Of aren't savages, y'know. Sharing's caring.

Hmm... sounds fair.  If you have a GCS, which I assume you do if you're holding a FB - or you have sufficiently fancy levers and bridges to work as a trap - then the best bet would be to make an ammo stockpile without bins, release a bait kitten, have the FB spread its dusty love, and then recapture it once it's killed the kitten and attempted to escape.
