Shops in town

Ladies & gentlemen, a noob's question here : if your adventurer wants to sell items, how do you find a shopkeeper in a town ? I've been wandering from building to building with no success so far, only meeting farmers, jewelers and other craftsmen ???. Is there a common place to find the shop ? Any distinctive feature on the map, any clues ?

Oh, simple! You need megatowns. They're yellow on fast travel map. They appear like +, #, * on global map. You need the yellow parts of the towns. A shop allways has a shop sign slab outside.

Great, that's what I was missing. BTW, I'm in a standard town  - not a megatown (I guess capitols are megatowns ?) - but I ran towards the yellow squares on the fast travel map, back to the local map and bingo, here are the so desired shops  8)
