If I recall correctly, worldgen battles basically consist of the two forces lining up and attacking so that only two individuals are fighting at a time, with the winner taking on the next enemy in line. I suppose that dwarves are simply tough enough to take on hundreds of elves and assorted woodland creatures singlehandedly.

All things considered, I wouldn't doubt this.  That's the only explanation for the way that 1-2 dwarves will beat back thousands of elves and humans.  And it is glorious.

You could mod the second dorf civ to have ACTIVE_SEASON:WINTER to stagger the caravans

I gen my worlds to 100 years, and I always have at least 5 dwarf civs of decent or better strength. The various advantages of the different races (particularly elven immortality) are much less pronounced early in worldgen.

This.

Wow so - maybe some interesting info someone might find cool....

going from this: (less robust dwarven civs)
   [TOTAL_CIV_NUMBER:50]
   [TOTAL_CIV_POPULATION:-1]
   [SITE_CAP:620]

to this: (more robust dwarven civs)
   [TOTAL_CIV_NUMBER:40]
   [TOTAL_CIV_POPULATION:15000]
   [SITE_CAP:1500]

The latter showed four five full civs in adventure mode while the former... was 1-2 and sometimes no standing dwarf civs.

Allot of times with the former there would be allot of civs listed but no sites, cities, or civs listed in adventure mode for playability ...

Maybe with the low site cap I was just stagnating my dwarves and the humans/elves were able to breed more or they ate up all the "available" sites much faster then the dwarves, up to the cap. I'm guessing that the site cap has allot to do with it.

I really had no idea that the site caps would matter so much. Or the population cap keeps one civ from taking over all the sites... I only know what they do individually... not how they interact together. Now with some clones we could have some really interesting worlds... lol =)
