Another Mood, Grr...
« on: May 28, 2011, 07:05:15 am »

I've got a dwarf wanted raw green glass, metal, stone and cloth. He's got the glass, but he's refusing to get anything else... can I assume that he needs loads of raw green glass then? That's VERY annoying. I don't want a dwarf to die on this fort.

I think it's the way towns develop now. In the beginning, people move into a town. Then they start producing tables, which results in more and more tables. Soon tables represent a significant portion of the population, they start lobbying for new laws and regulations, putting people to greater and greater disadvantage...

How long does he call for glass? If it shows up longer than the other components, he wants more than one piece yes. And did you check his preferences for metal and cloth? Maybe he wants silk or yarn while you only have plant cloth.

What metal does the midget like?
I had a problem like that once.
My mayor refused to take anything until I got some bluemetal.
Then I got a bluemetal shield.

Unless you have that metal which you most likely don't because no one even makes it anymore, he's done for.

So far as I've seen, and also read in the wiki, they only force a favored material for the base material of the artifact(the first thing they grab), and since he already grabbed green glass, it's going to be a green glass something.

Most likely, yes, he wants more green glass. Or, perhaps he wants blocks of stone/metal?

Mjeh, moods can be cunts. This fortress, Rocksclobbered, has had two moods now and both were of Possessions. I could easily have both of them make what they wanted and they made Larul Azin, The Magician of Watches, a Petrified Wood Bracelet (fuuu) and then later an armorer has a mood! He likes silver en grabs silver. He goes to work with just the silver and makes Estrithaddor, Spydrowns, a silver low boot.  >:(

High boots are much better; I never make low ones. So it'd just look clunky. :P
(though I like the name. Maybe that means I should give it to Goblin thieves and then chuck them in the water and retrieve the boot after death.)

If you got another artifact silver low boot, you could click the heels together and fly over a desert.

Pity it wasn't a silver gauntlet.  Then you could have summoned the Forgotten Beast Michael Jackson...
