Make slings with some of the vines, using the leaves to make the pockets

A river would also be good. See if the hunting party can make some snares out of woven vines and place the traps over the holes.

The Hunting men, bored of staring into the holes, try and weave the vines into something that might trap the badgers later in the day.

The woman on lookout stands up on the boulder to peek over the trees. She can see here that the trees give out not far from the bottom of the hill and give way to a massive expense of water, which could be a large lake.

The three scouts are still chatting about the spring.

The remaining woman remains gathering and she finds another small black rock further down the hill.

Have the one standing on a boulder do  360. We can't possibly be just in the middle of a lake.

The woman on the boulder turns around in a circle. The Lake spreads off to the south. To the north, east and west the Pine stretches off for seemingly forever. Mountains can be seen in the very very far west.

The Hunting men wait.

The three scouts continue to chat.

The remaining woman finds nothing.

Hmm, the evening eh?   Ok, everyone eats a ration of berries and gets a sip of water.  Then..

Switch one of the hunting men to cutting down a tree with his axe.  Make sure it doesn't land on him!
The other one to grab big dead branches.
One of the women to grab pine needle bedding.  Any saplings that can be ripped out to make a comfortable floor away from the ground to sleep on.
One of the scouting men are to start building a shelter.  Find some more vines to lash the cut tree in with.   Rip any branches off of it that are in the way. Etc.

One of the scouting men is to set up snares.  He sets them up over the badger holes.
One of the scouting men tries to make fire by rubbing two dry sticks together.
The last scouting man gathers fire supplies for him.   Some dry grass.  Small twigs, etc.

The lookout lady will stay on the top of the hill overlooking everything until it is too dark to see.

we probably got 2 pieces of flint, so he only need to start a fire by striking them. Otherwise, if everything else fails, collect more pine needles.

Everybody eats some berries, they don't get any more satisfying.

The woman on lookout remains on lookout

One of the hunters drops his spear and grabs the axe. He thin begins to chop down a nearby pine tree whilst the other huntsman gather dead branches. The axe is ineffective and it takes a while to make progress.

We have collected two large, dead branches.

One of the scouts gathers some more vines. Another begins to lay down some saplings on the ground. And another woman begins to make a fire with the flint and sticks.

The cloud has almost covered the sky again and the light quickly fades though our work is done by the fire light.

Yay fire!

Once the tree topples, lash it to another tree with vines and lean the branches over it.  Try to cut down on as much wind as possible.

Set the fire a few feet away from the entrance of the shelter.  Gather some more fuel for it so we can keep it going overnight.  Put any logs on the opposing side of the fire from the shelter so the heat is influenced to move towards the shelter.

Looks like we're going to have to use fire and body heat to stay warm for now!

The Hunter has  felled the tree. He tries to lean it against another tree but he cannot get to the top to lash the tops together. He decides this isn't a good idea.

The rest of the cavemen go off to find Fuel for the fire. They build the fire up until it burns strongly, keeping the entire hilltop warm. other large sticks are piled up on one side, to the north, and the fallen tree lies to the south. This creates a nice den of heat.

The Sun is almost down. Some clouds linger in the sky.

We put all of our extra in a circle a few more feet away from the fire, and everyone except for one person (who cycles the job) sleeps in a circle staying warm around the fire.

That one person is on sentry for the night and keeps a spear on him.

The tripped snare is checked.   If there's a gopher or other animal caught in it - spear it, re-set the trap, and bring it back to the camp.

Everybody curls up to sleep, the two huntsmen decide to swap the duty of watch but for now one remains awake and he grabs a spear.

As everyone is asleep, the Huntsman goes down to the Snares. There is a young badger cub, exhausted and near death. He spears it and brings it up to the camp. He grabs a drink at the spring and returns again.

It is dark. It is not possible to see the stars through light pollution from the Fire but it is clear.
