do you mean channeling the brook tile?  that would make it impassible because it would lose the 'brook' tag and just be a pit filled with 7/7 water....

Take a look at the save. The brook was frozen and i had a part of it dug out as part of my defense. Digging away the ice did not make the area passable however. Now my miner is floating above the empty area where the brook once was and the result pit can't be used for anything else.

I wish brooks were just shallow rivers with ramps on both sides.

Level three water is incredibly laggy.

When the brooks are frozen over you have to mine them twice. Once to remove the ice, and once to removed the stone that makes up the brook tile. Just designate them for mining, and your miner will dig himself free.

Okay, I've figured out why it's placing open space above the brook wall, and I'll fix it up at some point.
