Making captured monsters tired before killing them
« on: May 16, 2011, 04:01:22 pm »

I think it would be useful when fighting them with training weapons; even if you wear full armor, it is still a problem for novice warriors to hold their own against a bare-handed goblin or troll.
I was thinking of putting him in a danger room until he is so tired he can barely move - then relaxing as Urist McSwordNoob levels to my heart content.
Has someone ever tried this?

I think this is less a problem and more an expression of dwarven priorities.

Be careful that you don't level the goblin up too much in the danger room.

Have them killed. Nothing solves a problem quite as effectively as simply having it killed.

He will only level dodging, shield and armor. He will have no shield - but if he is tired AND a great dodger, all the better for my purposes. Or not?

Danger rooms levels up fighting and weapon skills too, as spears are parried and swatted aside. Watch out: legendary dodger, fighter, armor user trolls are no good running around.

I do not want to use a danger room, as I consider almost an exploit.
Is there a reliable way to make an enemy tired, other than a danger room?

Contain it in a small room and drop a few dozen kittens on it.  It will tire itself out killing them.  Or be killed by them, it works either way.
