I'd love to have the wiki be available offline and use it with wikitaxi. Is there any chance of getting a dump?

You might get better response time if you post on the discussion page of the front page of the wiki. I think there is also some details about admins there, who would be able to tell you who to contact.

Archiving the wiki would probably be a very good idea, TBH. We're going to be changing a heck of a lot of articles once the new version comes out, and I vaguely remember the wiki being archived when the 3D version was released too.

We have archive mechanisms in place, with namespaces for the various articles.  It's been an ongoing effort of the community.  Check out http://df.magmawiki.com/index.php/23a:Main_Page for an example, or http://df.magmawiki.com/index.php/Dwarf_Fortress_Wiki:Versions and http://df.magmawiki.com/index.php/Dwarf_Fortress_Wiki_Talk:Versions for more information on what we're doing.

I do back up the wiki's database regularly (which is a nearly instantaneous operation); however, the xml dump requires sequential scans over every row which is really slow.  Really really really slow.

Also, xml dump is done.

Sorry to awaken a dead topic but i was wondering if there was a more recent (and link working) dump of the database, i too would be interested in being able to run a local copy for use when i am out of internet access
