The Descent: A group of friends head into some underground caverns, and encounter horrifying monsters. They are slowly killed off by the creatures as well as their phenomenal stupidity. One character makes lethal use of a pick. By the time most of them are dead, they tantrum and turn on each other.

Return to Oz.  That dwarfy looking fellow from my profile pic is one of the main characters.
He isn't a dwarf, but he does live in a mountain, kill people (or something) for stealing his gems, and have lots of gem-encrusted stuff.
