I've just constructed a shop out of cow tallow soap.  I didn't know that this was a building material.

People have been building stuff out of soap, tallow, ashes, coal, and all manner of lovely building materials.  It's not likely to change any time soon, and I personally hope it doesn't for a long, long time.

Just about anything that can be made into bar or block form can be used as a building material.  Experiment, and find something you like.
