Marriage and bedrooms.
« on: April 08, 2008, 06:21:00 am »

It seems, that after the lovers have married, the wife start using husband's room, is listed in room's owners list, but still holds her old room.

Found it when noticed, that while I has 51 dwarf with two married couples and one baby, carried by mother among them, and 48 rooms I still has one dwarf without room, and no free rooms. Careful investigation revealed, that one of the wives occupies two rooms (the other couple were married before bedrooms were built).

[Edit]Nevermind all about marriage, she isn't occupying two rooms, it's just another dwarf with same first name and profession. But the ting is: my MAYOR occupies two rooms. One of them he claimed himself long ago, and the other is asiigned to him by me. He should've been removed from first room, right?

(Also: it used to be, that some migrants will come married, with a spouse being a peasant, but now they all, even peasants, come as singles)

I have a save, if needed.

It would be nice if it was easier to discover the two-bedrooms situation, but I don't really see why someone couldn't have two.

I'm absolutely sure, that earlier, when you assign a room to someone, he/she will free his/her old room.
So I'm curious if it is an intentional change or not.

Tombs are the only buildings that automatically clear other assignments I think, but as with everything else in the game, it should probably be easier to clear their old assignments with an interface and stuff.

Somewhat on the topic, I've noticed that often married couples will completely forego sleeping in a room assigned to them, and instead sleep in a random unoccupied bed and get the " Slept without a proper room " negative thought.

I'd originally thought that it was because it was closer to where they were, and they were too tired to make it all the way back to their rooms... but on closer investigation that did not seem to be the case. This happens quite often, but not frequently enough to properly document. Sometimes I will see them sleeping in random rooms for 4-5 sleeping sessions and then go back to their room for a while.
