Butchering Wild, Caged Animals
« on: May 09, 2011, 04:14:58 pm »

I have a few caged badgers. Last time I tried to move a wild animal into my zoo, it spooked the guy carrying him, and the subsequent yak mop-up disabled two of my militia members, temporarily at least. I don't want that to happen again.
I can tame the other yaks but not the badgers. I want to be able to butcher them. How?

Have your soldiers kill them. Non-sentient animals are butcherable, regardless of their being killed by a butcher or a soldier. Killing them with some manner of trap should work, as well (I think).

Or if you want to keep military safe ;) kill it  by dropping from high places or with weapon traps. You can build their cage on the end of corridor with traps and open it remotely. Then its body (or body parts) should be butcherable.

Badgers are exotic, so you'll have to edit the raws and remove the _EXOTIC from them to tame them. Dungeon Master is bugged, so that's the only option to be able to tame 'em.

You can always build the cage that the animal is in for the zoo.  Unless you wanted multiple animals in one cage or specific cages.

Hit "j" to build a cage, select the spot, hit "x" to change to a list of each individual cage, then select the one with the animal in it.  Which is on that list as well.

I have my soldiers chop the caged beasts and invaders. By designating a small pasture zone near my animal stockpile, have soldiers stand there, assign hostile to pasture, it gets hauled and released and slain.

==OldGenesis mod== by Deon & TomiTapio. Five wood classes, four leather classes. Nine enemy civs. So much fine-tuning.
