A friend posted a link to this on Facebook. The first thing that pops into my head is as follows: If EA removes all of their games from Steam, what are they going to do about the hoards of angry consumers who already bought their games and no longer have access to them?

Doesn't look like they've pulled anything yet, but lol, they already tried to have their own platform thing once and it failed miserably, I expect this to do the same.

Umm, I don't think they mean those who have already purchased on Steam will be unable to play, just that nobody else can buy those games from Steam.

Roughly, it sounds like Crytek's made a deal with EA based on their Origin platform and Valve went, "breach of contract, motherfucker" and pulled the game from Steam. Expect Crytek to get sued up the bunghole by Valve (for seriously massive amounts of cash, I'd guess) and for EA to try to stop this crap. EA's probably designed a contract that directly contradicts Steam's but has offered Crytek a LOT of cash to make up for it.

Oh, well. This is retarded.

I'm more worried that each major publisher is going to open their own version of Origin, for the sake of not giving Valve a cut. That could make things a bit complicated.

Not really, I'm pretty sure you can run pirated games with Steam.
