I use tilesets. Mostly because I'm ASCIIlliterate, but color blindness doesn't help, either.

Holy crap, why did I not start watching One Punch Man earlier? This is the best thing.
probably figured an autobiography wouldn't be interesting

They dont understand ASCII graphics and would perfer 3D animations etc.
Elves.

On a more serious note, parts of my family are disapproving of DF. My friends seem vaguely interested, but I don't think any of them have started their own forts.

Are you a GM with players who haven't posted? TheDelinquent Players Help will have Bay12 give you an action!
[GreatWyrmGold] gets a little crown. May it forever be his mark of Cain; let no one argue pointless subjects with him lest they receive the same.

Define 'disapproving'.

I've met one person who I know plays Dwarf Fortress, but I don't think I knew it at the time. It came up during a later conversation with him. Other than that, I've been talking to people and showing them bits of my current fortress and explaining what's going on. I have to admit that when they ask me what kind of game it is, I'm at a loss for words and can only say that it's very complex and very fun / interesting.

How I usually build my fort.
We're all secretly mantises. Except that one guy. We're trolling the shit out of him.

My stepdad saw me playing Dwarf Fortress, and he thought I was defragging my computer.

LOL. Now that one nearly made me choke on my morning coffee :P
