autobutcher, shaver etc
« on: April 28, 2011, 10:08:03 am »

scheduler
something like the military "schedule" screen but then to automatically zone an animal for butchering if certain conditions are met

task:
butcher X amount of animals
train war X amount of animals
train hunt X amount of animals
milk X amount of animals
shave X amount of animals
move X amount animals to pasture X (for grazing regulation and separating children from breeding pairs)
put X amount animals in cages
...

filters:
in pasture X, of species X, gender X, puppies/adult, trait of X, diseased, hurt, minimum amount alive, etc
...

dynamic conditions:
monthly, weekly, yearly, seasonally
if numbers go above threshold
if stocks of object X (meat? leather?) fall below/above X
if pasture grass below X%
if pasture animal amount above X (would need animals born from a mom at a pasture to be automatically assigned to a pasture i dont think this happens)
etc...

it needs a lot of work fleshing out and finding the best way to compose all this stuff, but i think it would be awesome
manual tasks giving ofc stay in place, this is to industrialise the animal part of the game

Standing orders are near the top of Eternal Suggestion Vote, and are likely to be implemented someday. They are not just for animals, but everything, like booze, meals, furniture, whatever. Personaly I'd like to see auto milking auto shearing, and auto make cheese. I like cheese.

Basically, most people already want this, it's been discussed to death, and we're just waiting for Toady to tackle it or not, depending upon what he wants to do.

So yeah, good idea... but we have nothing further to say ;)

Well, I would simply like to have ANY reaction being able to be set as "auto".

As long as you have raw materials, it will get queued and requeued.

Many, MANY reactions would benefit automatization (melt object, spin thread, make totems ...) and simple "if you have materieals for one" condition is often enough.
