My weather's been pretty much normal for springtime - really frickin' weird. Nothing really dangerous, but ice, snow, and hail near the end of April is kinda cool.

MCTI had this huge Tornado alarm go off and piss everyone off. I swear, they were literally pulling out the Nuclear Attack siren to get everyone off their asses.

The thing is, I ignored it completely, because I looked outside and found it to be one of the most beautiful days I've ever seen, and presumed that it was just another lousy drill. We've been having alot of those lately.

A second supercell south of the storm that spawned the[censored] tornadoes produced several funnel clouds through[censored] county before any tornado touchdown was reported. Damage was first observed south of [censored], in[censored] county. Several structures were moderately damaged. The most significant damage in[censored] county was rated F2. The tornado reached over 1/2 mile wide as it crossed into[censored] county, and abruptly strengthened to an F3 as it entered the town of[censored] .[censored] was devastated. Nearly every structure was either damaged or destroyed (including several buildings of historical significance). 5 people were killed, many of whom died in mobile homes.

When the Tornado abruptly strengthens to an F3, that's wher I live, in [censored]

Raliegh's bout of weather insanity happened about a week ago. It started as simple rainstorms (Doppler radar showed most of this region of the state covered in violet level rain, which normally only manages a dot or so, and it actually went into black level rain in some areas, which I have never seen before), but eventually turned to tornados. There are a few wrecked stores off of the highway, but the big damage happened in the poor neighborhoods. As in, "there are no more standing trees" damage. A week of constant cleanup has yet to put a dent in the fallen trees.

I was in a restauraunt when the insanity peaked. Let me tell you, suddenly having a sports bar/restaurant full of lights, televisions, and computers suddenly go dark and silent sans emergency lighting is creepy as all fuck, and subsequently terrifying when the emergency lights promptly go out. The general manager informing everyone that we may have to hide from suprise-tornados in their industrial cooler was not a calming element.
