Uh... I honestly cannot find a verifiable anywhere for why he's off the air now.  So, I would hold off on any stuff about contributions or whatever.  Yes, he was suspended for a week in November, but reinstated when the rest of MSBC's lineup threatened to walk off if the rules were changed.  I find it hard to believe a network would change its rules to hang onto a guy, only to kick him out two months later without notice or fanfare.

As I recall his ratings stank on ice. I've heard rumors more people watch when there's a guest host.

I don't know if I'd call it stank on ice.  If business point of his show was to compete for his timeslot against other programming, he was down but apparently the whole timeslot was going down.  He was getting his clock cleaned by O'Reilly, but that was the case from the day he went on the air, so why would that matter all of a sudden.

Eh, the guy's famous for backstage blowups, so who knows.  I wonder where he's off to now, he'd probably be a hot commodity for a smaller outlet than MSNBC.

Olbermann claiming that the network treats different employees differently with regards to political contributions is what makes me not care he's being let go. That's a standard rule for any journalist that still takes their ethics seriously. When I read some of his comments, he made it sound like he saying "Well....they did it too!"

You forget that we're talking about cable news channels, not journalism. Trust me, there's little similarity.

Provided anything on the Internet can be trusted, Olbermann may have been encouraged to leave, or left in a huff, due to MSNBC's coming merger with Comcast, whose President and appointees are all staunch Republican donors.  Speculation and hearsay.

Interest: World renowned reportage outlet NMA TV already had its own take.

Just dropped in to fix my hideous tagging, don't mind me.

It's only a matter of time until Time-Warner and Viacom absorb it all. Then we will have no say in what we watch. Hell Viacom has Stewart and Colbert, think they could buy out a giant like MSNBC or FoX?

Look up "NBC Universal" and "News Corporation" and say that again. :P

Yes, I'm bumping a thread from three months ago.  Now, I don't like to call myself a "liberal", but this is weirding me out.  Some coincidences are too cosmic to ignore.

I was watching NMA World Edition and Autotune the News for old time's sake, and I thought to myself, "I wonder what Keith Olbermann's up to these days?"  Surely sitting around his apartment scratching himself and throwing stuff at the TV can't last forever.

Lo and behold, apparently being announced just today, Olbermann is slated to be back on the air.  CNN?  ABC?  Fox Sports?  QTV?  Nope, the only place that could possibly tolerate his pompous ass, Al Gore's personal cable channel.  Can't keep a good blowhard down, and he's found the one network guaranteed not to fire him.

I completely forgot that Gore had a TV channel.  It kinda fell off the radar after he launched it.

That channel should've been called Al-Gorezeera.  The name is much more memorable than "Current."

Yeah, I totally forgot, and said, "...oh yeah, okay, that makes sense," when I read the article.  I've never watched it.  I don't even know if my satellite package carries it.

Wow. I didn't know it was possible to fall farther than talk radio, but lo, it is such.

Yeah, Olby going to Al Gores channels was press released about 3 weeks ago I think.  Since I am a "conservative" as compared to Aqizzar's "liberal", I peruse some right leaning news sites and that was a big deal on some of them.  I didnt care, but he was an enemy for a lot of Republicans, so they kinda fixate on him..........(ie: Palin, Rush, Orielly, Beck, etc).
