Oooh, they could even do the badger conga-line to become reaching fog-tentacles of doom.
The issue with that is that, if they were ever seperated by a square or two, as I think badgers sometimes are, you'd have little puffs of fog, rather than tendrils. That may or may not be an issue, depending on whether you're wanting to portray the fog as a single, malevolent entity, or an environment in which evil foglings cluster.

Well, the fog creatures would make temporary fog around them, kind of like dust from a cave-in.

That would make the tentacle appear more solid.
