do war animals gain experience?

Hey sorry, another noob question, training cave crocodiles into war animals obviouslyhas some bearing on their behavior and stats, but do animals gain skills or become more adept at fighting when they fight and kill things? I haven't noticed kind of stats screen for animals, maybe not.

No; only creatures that can learn (by having the CAN_LEARN, SLOW_LEARNER, or INTELLIGENT token) gain experience and skills. They might gain attributes, but I doubt it, as those are based off of skill improvements AFAIK.
