Healthcare priority (33f?)
« on: December 17, 2007, 07:16:00 pm »

Sorry if this is an oldie, been out of it for a while, but it seems that giving water\food is one of the lowest priority jobs and I feel this should not be. Just had my first real siege (Thank you Toady!!) and I've 4 wounded, that are receiving the rest command properly but they weren't taken to beds till I had 2 designated health care workers and aren't being fed at all. 3 out of 4 are starving and dehydrated.

Just so you know, plenty of food, drink, and 5 spare buckets. One of my designated health care workers has had a no job for a while but then I noticed he hates helping people and had several irritated thoughts about it (presumably from feeding the one that isn't starving). Now another healthcare worker without any such trait has no job for about a week... :[

Update: While I was typing, apparently 1 got fed and 1 died of starvation, a third is still starving\thirsting and will probably drop dead soon. (But I noticed this one also has not been consistently resting unlike others.)

Yes, this has been a problem, but it isn't health care priority that's at fault.  A dwarf that is unable to rest is often ignored.  If he gets a chance to rest a bit, it should generate a job to feed and water him.  Good luck with that.

The problem here is the resting code.  It's always been a little buggy with certain injuries causing the resting dwarf to black out and breaking the rest cycle.  In many cases it turns out fatal.
