Unable to build floor grate surrounded by other grates
« on: December 17, 2007, 03:14:00 pm »

First of all, let me draw you a map.

See that underscore in the middle? That's where I was trying to build my grate. Apparently, when I try to build a grate there, it tells me that it's surrounded by empty space, which doesn't make sense, seeing as how the grates are right there.

Grates just don't count as floors when it comes to supporting things. If there was a floor tile there it would collapse.

This is not a bug. Hatches, bridges, grates, and bars do not support floor tiles, or other hatches, grates, and bars. Bridges can support other bridges, but only as long as the bridge is not retracted.

Alright, sorry then. I just assumed that a grate could support another grate, because, you know, a grate can be expanded upon.

Yea that's more of a design oversight.
