I got an engraving of a hulking ogress husband being appointed the general of a local dwarven government. I knew goblins could appoint monsters as nobles, but not dwarves!

That's a quirk of legends mode, carried over to engravings/statues/decorations' description.

When a dwarf/human/elf gets kidnapped and becomes the mate of a night creature, they become enemies of their civilization and lose their title, but all of their historical records report them by their new state of being, instead of their original nature as dwarves/humans/elves, and keeps referring to them as night creatures' spouses even before getting changed, giving the illusion they were born that way.

It turns out that ANOTHER hulking ogress husband/dorf that got converted later on got appointed king of the same civilization.
