future experiments have concluded:

picks can get names

picks do store kills

and named or attatched to picks can be used for mining as well as fighting. -might just be named, none too sure-

i have a fortress save called counsil mines -currently suffering forbiden beast goo- that had my legendary millatery commander weidling a named pick -well, 2 named picks actualy-

needless to say. outside is funky.
