Ok, so ive just embarked, and i see this wierd bubble type stuff growing, my question is: what the heck is it?

Bubble grass, seems your embark is part Good biome. Perfectly edible for grazers, nothing freaky about it.

hm. what kind of biome/area? I embarked in an evil area once, and was immediately set upon by pink grass and pink twitching tentacles and eyeballs. I immediately abandoned, for fear of my dwarves becoming stars in the next japanese tentacle porn movie.

Just be glad you're not using a tile-set and having to look at a bunch of wells popping out of the ground!

I like the flavor aspect of the grass, but which it wasn't so flashy.

I imagine it'd be better if it kept the blue color, but original grass tiles.
