I've got this error when I try to replace a file. I'm a admin and I took ownership of BOTH files and folders. What's wrong?

I'm trying to place this one file in another folder that I copied from a CD. It has to replace a file to do that. How am I supposed to elaborate more?

What is this CD? This might be a DRM program getting in your way.

It's the CD for King of Dragon Pass. I'm pretty sure there's no DRM.

Google search shows that it does have some form of out-of-game copy protection. The disk can realize if it's altered and not run because of that, so somthing to keep files from being copied off of it isn't far-fetched. However, Toady doesn't want people to talk about breaking copy protection, so you'll be on your own if that's the case.

If you're getting the error when trying to drag files into a folder you copied from a CD, I'd bet money it's because the folder is marked as read-only protected.  Check the properties first.

Check the properties of the file, then change it.

Why else would you have to ask forgiveness? Assuming you are forced into the situation of asking for one or the other, I'll take permission for this one.

It's also possible the files are in use. You can't modify a file that's already open in another program. Dunno about copying a file that's open, though.
