Where'd all the people go?
« on: April 23, 2011, 05:25:24 am »

So I've just downloaded the latest version, and every time I play in adventure mode I've noticed that civilization seems... sparse. There aren't as many civilizations available at the end of worldgen as their used to be, they cover much less of the map, and half the castles I visit are abandoned (which is a serious pain in the ass when I'm trying to build up my NPC posse). What can I do to make a more adventurer-friendly world?

Give all the races [NO_EAT] and [NO_DRINK]? (might be without '_')

People need to eat since a recent version, so that is probably what is causing your problem.

You'll probably get the most out of your adventuring experience if you stop Worldgen between years 100 and 400. Most civilizations, beasties, and wars are still active at those points in time. And you could always use the custom parameters and crank up the number of civilizations to suit your liking.

Ah, yes, I thought something was amiss. Now I see. There's not enough terrible things in the lakes.

Yep, setting a much earlier end date for worldgen made a humungous difference. ty all.
