Miners always want to mine from the top or the left

This may be just a minor annoyance, I don't know if it's been reported yet as the topic list is way too long, but whenever miners want to dig a designated area, they will always go to the north or west side of a tile to mine it if possible. Sometimes this is no biggie, but if you're digging a new tunnel from your current location to an existing open area, the miner will stop one tile short of the junction and walk all the way around, going out of his way to dig it from the other side.

Someone's done an analysis of this. You just have to work around it.  I don't know that Toady has this high on his list of priorities.
