Warhammer 40k- Orks or Tau?

I've been checking it out lately. I was wndering, what army should I go with?

I like the tau empire. I love the hovercrafts and plasma cannons.

I also like the Orks. Fast attack, plus it allows for Great customization.

Which one should I go for?

EDIT- MORE INFO-

Well, I was going for MORE DAKKA, the orks allow you to ADD dakka, and the tau inherently have a metric FUCKTON of dakka.

You should go for the 40k thread in Other Games. Also, give people more of an idea of what you want from the army.

Orks are not a Dakka heavy army; their Dakka is just used to soften up enemy blocks before the mobs charge into melee. For shooting, Imperial Guard or Tau would be my ideas; the Tau have fewer, better guns and men, but the IG have so many guns it's hard to fault them.

I'd also suggest playing a few games on Vassal before making a decision, it's an expensive hobby and you don't want to spend money on an army you dislike.


Also, there's a much bigger 40k thread in here, that's kinda what I meant.

It ultimately depend on if want to shoot then beat heads in close or stand back and shoot.

On the role-playing side of things, if you're into that, Tau is a very cold, calculating faction (using long-range weapons, artillery and if things get sticky, Kroot slaves and disposable human fanatics) while the Orkz are a bunch of hot-headed galactic misfits. There's a bit of a distinction in the feeling behind the two factions ;)

Ork have a truckload of dice that they use(and miss) and then go into melee
Tau has a rather accurate and strong arsenal and they dont want melee

Well. I think there has been one or two codex changes since i played last though.
