I can confirm this. Stealthed enemies however won't give a message (i.e. "Snatcher! Save the children!" or whatever) if they get attacked with a weapon/stone trap.

That must be why I remember that only cage traps would actually protect me from stealthers hitting traps and my dwarves running out and getting killed. Kobolds definitely ignore traps though :(

That's why you make a restraint right near your traps and tie worthless animals to them.  The kobolds get scared away by the animal while still stealthing.  Sometimes they can get in if it's not close enough to the gate, but even then it keeps 90% scared off.  If you care about the animals you can even attach the chains to a lever to release them all to get back into your fortress if a siege shows up.

I don't though because it's amusing to watch bunnies get thrown across the map by trolls or somehow take enough kinetic force from a single arrow to fly 5 tiles and explode into bits against a wall.

[anecdote]...Once I had a donkey get thrown clear to the map border by a giant.  But because the map border isn't solid it just hovered in the air against it for a dozen or so turns before falling down to the ground completely unharmed.[/anecdote]
