Military Champions
« on: April 10, 2011, 09:55:40 am »

Hi there - quick question, are champions still around? As in, if I get some legendary military people, will they never do civilian jobs again? I'm thinking about setting up a cross training programme and want all of my civilians at least a little skilled in the military, but I don't want to lose my legendary grower because he figured out how to swing an axe.

Champions of 40d don't exist anymore. Elite military dwarves do get grumpy about leaves, and there is also an appointed noble position titled champion. He works akin to drill sargeant.

Unless this has been fixed since .18, dwarves who hit Elite will have all their labours deactivated (not disabled, just switched off). If returned to civilian life and then reactivated, they will start out as non-Elites and become Elite again after some military XP.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.
