Getting new tilesets to display
« on: October 21, 2006, 08:30:00 pm »

I'm having a problem where several of the tilesets I got from the wiki don't display right. I save them as 24 bit bmps, I point the init file to them correctly as far as I know, but all I get is semi-solid blocks of color. I used to get solid ones but that changed when I saved the things as bmps and not pngs.

Hmm, I've had this happen a couple times when I was working on the one tileset.

I can't remember exactly what it was that caused it, so I'll go over everything that I can think of:

Are you using a resolution that is compatible with the tileset?  Some of them will display garbage if its an odd resolution.

Do you have the name spelled correctly?  (If you have "Hide extensions for known file types on your machine" turned on for your machine  you may have "tilesetname.bmp.bmp" instead of just "tilesetname.bmp".

Did you save the file to your machine, and then use paint to edit the file, and save it as a 24 bit bmp?

Sorry I can't be much help directly, but that's all I can think of  :(
