Looking for Specific Embark
« on: April 07, 2011, 06:14:28 pm »

4x4 Area, Good Tropical Moist Broadleaf Forest, Flux, River, Sand, All civs still alive, no aquifer, and plenty of metal.

Anyone know a way I can tweak the world gen parameters to find all this in a site? I know to turn the mineral scarcity down, but the other parameters are somewhat vague.

Play with the weighted values in worldgen : you need low volcanism, high rain, mid-high temperature, high drainage, rise the good-related values. Also improve number of rivers. Civs still alive will be fine if you have a short story (get end year under 200, even 100 or 50)

Sand you will find in the caverns.

Be sure not to get only forests (if not you will get less or no humans and goblins), just more forests than plains.

Also, turn down the mineral scarcity if you want plenty of metal, and mod aquifers out of the game like I do.

Use Lazy Newb Pack to get rid of aquifers easily or follow the wiki guide to mod them out manually.

For an easy way to modify world gen parameters use PerfectWorldDF. It comes with a tutorial and is quite simple to use. Note that it hasn't been updated for 31.25 so you will have to manually add the [MINERAL_SCARCITY:<number>] and [NIGHT_CREATURE_NUMBER:<number>] tags to your data/init/world_gen.txt file.

I found a nice site, but the cavern starts a little too high up. Is there a way to encourage that down a few levels?

Change [LEVELS_ABOVE_LAYER_1:<number>] to the minimum number of levels you want above cavern layer one. Be warned that some embarks will have many more z's above layer one than you asked for though. I think this has to do with how close you are to the mountains, number of soil layers, etc.
