Heads on pikes/spears
« on: April 03, 2011, 05:32:03 pm »

I need the ability to put the heads of invaders on spears as a taunt/warning to said invaders. Elves, goblins, trolls, demons... there need to be a way to cut the heads off the corpses and stick them on an upright spear or spike and let it slowly rot. Come on, dwarves have been known to kill each other to make artifacts out of the bones of the one they murdered... this is totally acceptable, so should rotting head fetishes be.

Quoting from entity_default

   [ETHIC:MAKE_TROPHY_SAME_RACE:APPALLING]
   [ETHIC:MAKE_TROPHY_SAPIENT:SHUN]
   [ETHIC:MAKE_TROPHY_ANIMAL:ACCEPTABLE]

Dwarves also lack the [ABUSE_BODIES] tag, so it is unlikely to happen.

Yeah, changing that'll do it in worldgen, but not in fortress mode, which I think is what the OP means...

Point is that dwarves will never be able to do it in fortress mode either because of their ethics. There is no point in adding it if the vanilla dwarves cannot do it, it just takes up needless coding time that Toady can spend on the caravan arc.

Well, maybe it shouldn't be a priority, but a lot of people like modding, so it should be done eventually...

Ethics will become procedural as civilizations become differentiated. in the future.   There's no reason that such things won't be buildable in the future.

It may not be something dwarves would do, but imagine discovering ruins (or a goblin encampment) surrounded by skulls mounted on pikes. So I'm in support of this feature.

Non-player civs already do this.
