Let's Play Necromunda!
« on: May 26, 2011, 06:03:45 pm »

Or, let's watch Burnt playing Necromunda with an old friend from college.

Updates will occur when I've had a game or three, the first session of which should be tomorrow. Pictures will come if I remember to grab a Camera. I will put a lot of effort into remembering the Camera.

Gang lists are on Necronet: The Legacy of the Law, my Pit slaves, and Hughe Carrington's Most Noble Expeditionary Force, Exarratus' Prospector gang.

Some games may be illustrated by Screenshots from the 40k Module of Vassal. This will be because we couldn't be bothered to go to Warhammer World for that game.

We will be using a lot of Anthony Case's most excellent rules, both revisions and entirely new ones. Most obvious will be his new skills, aimed at toning down the overpowered skills and toning up the useless ones. Both of our gangs are using the lists he has, due to him being much better at making balanced gangs than GW are. (I'm looking at you, Goliaths and Van Saar.)

Once I have the creds I will be purchasing new additions to the gang, and I will accept names and loadouts from people here. You're also welcome to claim guys already in my list, although I'm not going to be renaming them.

Exarratus may join the thread later, but I've not really discussed it with him.

Game was had on Friday, will be updating probably on Sunday/Monday, as my mum took the camera to Birmingham before I got round to getting the pictures off it. I will post a small summary tomorrow.

Mind describing Necromunda for those who've never heard of it? (Read: Me.)

Whoops. Completely forgot that part.

Necromunda is Games Workshop's game of crime in the undercity. Hive cities, hundreds of miles wide and tall, dominate many worlds, including the titular world of Necromunda. The rules detail Hive Primus of Necromunda and the houses that rule and run it, from the ruling Helmawr family to the scavvies scavenging the hellish environment at the very bottom of the hive. Many gangs inhabit the vastness of the underhive, fighting over territory, loot and honour. Some of these gangs are made up of members of a single house, like the sneaky Delaque or the muscular Goliaths, others are groups that banded together for another reason, be it religion, protection or money. The Enforcers are charged with keeping the peace in the underhive, but due to the sheer size of it and the amount of illicit weaponry possessed by the gangs, they usually settle for protecting the border between the city itself and the lawless underhive. Anything can be found in these emperor-forsaken depths, untold riches, horrible mutants and a swift death being the most notorious.

Necromunda is a game of turn based tactics with a small to medium gang of hardened gangbangers in the lawless underhive. It uses a slightly modified version of 2nd edition 40k rules, and is best played in a campaign, so your gang grows as you play.

No, a tabletop game played with models.

I'm really not great at this describing thing.

I've seen Yakromunda (Hell, one of the forums I frequent has the guy who made it, and he won't stop advertising it.), but at that time I was using Necronet, and I've never remembered/been too lazy to switch.

I should have updated yesterday, but I was feeling a bit ill. Seems to be gone today, and the camera will return today, so I may be able to get an update up.
