Baking an earthenware bin wouldn't be unreasonable, either.  Earthenware is fired at lower temperatures, and can be made fairly thick.  It'd be heavy, especially if you wanted to make it thick enough to prevent shattering, but you'd basically be making a really big brick with a large hollow spot and some handles.

Porcelain (and to a lesser extent, stoneware) can't be made very thick or large, or it will shatter in the firing, but then again, you can bake porcelain with magma, even though the firing temperature of porcelain is a few hundred degrees hotter than magma is in this game, plus the game confuses "clay" and "sand" the colloid size of soil grains with "clay" and "sand" the class of sillacious minerals, so who really cares about being precise, I guess?
