I just make a sh*tload of different weapons, and let them choose.

Invariably, the greater the range of weapons available, the more of them will specialise in the same one. 

Also, is it common for them to change weapon types when better ones become available?

Because presumably he's equipped with something, and if he isn't, then he's a wrestler.


I generally go with a mix. I think my current fort has 4 swords dorfs, 3 mace dorfs, 2 axe dorfs and a spear dorf in my main squad. Then the duke and COTG with artifact hammers and the dukes lover with a crossbow.
