When i try to run the game on an ubuntu platform using wine, an "opengl error" pops up and it quits.

It's a common error? How i can fix this?

And why did you use opengl for a text only game?!?

What are your settings in winecfg graphics card and such?

I got it to work perfectly in ubuntu then got mad at it and went back less than a week ago.

Also check if your graphics card is opengl compliant.

If you aren't already, try running the executable with:

WINEDEBUG="-all" wine dwarfort.exe

That works for me; I'm also running on Ubuntu.

I think Ubuntu comes with Mesa "OpenGL" preinstalled, but if not, install it or some other OpenGL library. (I can't quite remember the reason that Dwarf Fortress uses OpenGL, but it uses it to render the ascii tiles.)

I did it with no positive results  

Exhausted i installed a virtual machine witn win XP and YES finally it worked! At least until i agreet to elaborate a new world... after that BANG! the program exits with no word  

i'm sooo sad!

And i hope this is AT LEAST a very incredibously piece of art or after all this work i'll kill you all

i copied the game directory from a location to another and now it works. No comment please
