FPS death on embark
« on: April 08, 2011, 10:43:38 am »

Hi,
I just embarked on a grand new site, and for some reason, as soon as I unpause, FPS goes to 5 :(
I have nothing but my embark team, and noone has been set to go places, that they cannot reach.

What do I do?

Its probably because of a very large amount of z-levels, did you embark on a mountain or volcano perhaps?

There's also the possibility of a glitch involving the Magma Sea, the HFS, or both.

151 is the highest layer, that has stuff on it.
Isn't much more than what I have noticed before.

What about the z-levels of open space? Massive amounts of open space can be hellish on FPS, as evident with some stuff lurking below.

It doesn't matter anyway, just abandon the site and try again. If it happens again even on a flat piece of land, then try genning a new world.

Yea I guess. It seemed like a perfect site though!
Already looking for a new place.
