building floor won't make squares under it "dark s
« on: November 21, 2007, 09:40:00 am »

I dug a wide channel on the surface and built a floor (b-C-f) over it to make it a room. The floor became a ceiling for this room, but after building this ceiling (and supposedly hiding all the sunlight) the floor of the room is "Inside Light Above ground" when i look (k) at it. Shouldn't it become "Inside Dark Subterranean" when i build a ceiling over it?

my DF version is v0.27.169.33b

Once a tile loses it's dark subterranean status, it can not regain it.

Being unable to regain the subterranean flag makes some sense as the tile would no longer be under the ground but under a building. The light flag however probably should revert to dark when sealed from light, but this is somewhat complicated by the fact you can build your walls/celings out of glass. I'm sure Toady will get aound to this at some point.

No, because it isn't subterranean. It's "Inside" because there's a roof over it (a roof is all that's needed for that) that allows placing furniture, but other than that, it's still "light", unusable for indoor farming, and "above ground", because the temperature isn't regulated by the artificial walls.
