For the love of all that is holy, make pplates easier
« on: April 06, 2011, 11:25:31 am »

Basically all i want is a min and max button for my pressure plates, say just capital letters when setting the creature size. simply because im fed up of hammering e on the various plates in my fortress. No idea how macros work and it would aid those who cant or dont use them.
at the very least, holding the key should make it happen lots of times like holding a key when typing

How about being able to type in, manually, the weight?

This would help greatly for Adventure mode trading, too.

I think I suggested this a while ago, too.  It's a good idea :)

You could have berries on the rocks and the dwarves would say it was "berry gneiss."
You should die horribly for this. And I mean that in the nicest possible way.

Either type in or a skip to max / skip to min button with capitalized letters would be amazing. I agree that as it is placing pressure plates is too tedious and could use a bit of UI work.

While we're at it, could we see the whole size value? Right now it only shows the first 4 digits when size values can go up to 9 digits. Really without knowing the exact weights of the example creatures it's impossible to tell if you're at 4,000 size or 40,000 size or 400,000 size.

Here's a quick Macros guide for you

When you start your next pressure plate, when asked for min / max sizes do the following :-

1. Hit CTRL-R

2. hit 'e' 20 times, or however many needed to min the weight. then hit 'f' until max weight is maxxed.

3. Hit CTRL-R to stop recording

4. Hit CTRL-S to save. You will asked to name the Macro (eg PP SET WEIGHTS). Change names by going into the macros folder, filename is the name used in game.

Now, when asked to enter weights on the NEXT pressure plate , you click :-

CTRL-P, <wait for macro>

If you leave the game, your Macro won't be loaded anymore, so you hit

CTRL-L then 'Enter' to load the Macro, or switch between Macros

Esc -> Key Bindings -> Buildings -> Building, Trigger, Min Size Down -> Delayed repeat, etc.

Hope this helps.
