Antarctic goblins
« on: March 26, 2011, 11:58:55 pm »

So, in the very first world I genned under 0.31.23, I noticed something a little weird.  There was a goblin fortress in the glacier/arctic-ocean area along the south of the map -- only 3 cells from the edge.

Probably something that could occur all along in DF2010, but I do wonder how they could survive.

Goblins don't need to eat anymore, so they can live there because they don't need to farm.

They thrive on the power of their HATE

And muffins. Everyone loves muffins.

If one of them names their great-sword Frostmourne, I am SO waging a crusade on their asses.

Those are elves... Oh wait, that was Stormbringer. No really, I seriously though that you were talking about Elric's sword there - but then I realized that Frostmourne was just Blizzard's rip-off version of it.

They thrive on the power of their HATE

Just like our current adventurers. They are able to survive forever on the suffering, pain and fear of the fools they slaughter.

They must have constructed a giant fell igloo featuring unrelenting bastions of intimidating snowgoblins.

As I gen more worlds, I'm seeing that glacier gobbos are actually quite common.  However, I still have another cool seed to share:

This has an antarctic volcano.  Might be attractive to the sort of player who likes to build forts on the ice.
