Since you can't de-activate Elite units and Champions, it seems that they never get alcohol in them.  Well...seems like all soldiers, whether on duty or not do not consume alcohol, only when deactivated do they (and they seem to b-line to the alcohol at that point).  Unfortunately, my poor Champions can no longer indulge.  That intentional?

No, I've seen soldiers cosume alcohol. Quite often they're doing a patrol of in the middle of a siege they get thirsty and run for the stockpile to indulge themselves. No idea if Elites/Champions suddenly don't drink, but they would probably at least drink less since they are probably "tough" to a degree, which decreases how often they have to eat and drink.

I don't see any difference in their performance anyways, so I don't think it matters much right now.

Are they slower if they don't drink alcohol?

If they were set to carry water, they will never drink alchohol again, once they become a champion.

Speaking of which, you should be able to tell the military to carry alchohol.. they are dwarves afterall, and drinking on duty wouldn't be a bad thing for them.

ahh...the carrying water thing makes sense.  I had that enabled on all my squads.  Interesting...
