Trouble running Dwarf Fortress (index file corrupt)
« on: March 27, 2011, 02:13:40 am »

I tried to set up dwarf fortress on my Laptop (Windows 7) but it says the index file is corrupt and mentions something about decompressing inproperly. I've tried multiple downloads and I have extracted the files using the base windows extractor and 7zip and i'm out of ideas. Help?

Are you upgrading from a previous version? I've forgotten the Data\Index file before and gotten this error.

I like fortresses because they are still underground.

Did you install the game in Program Files, or on top of a previous installation?  If so, don't do either of those things.
