Well, I am building it. I have razed most of the mountain by now, and the land is much flatter. Gave me three legendary miners.

I have started to pave the black sand ground with obsidian, and I have started to build the walls of the cathedral, as well as a future magma moat. A few goblin thieves visited, and already shed blood upon the ground of the cathedral.

Also two "cute"bolds that weren't fast enough to avoid my dogs. Mwahahahahaha !

Here's a view of the start of the construction :
Spoiler: Z-level 0 (click to show/hide)

Meanwhile, my high master immigrant weaponsmith decided to have a fey mood.

Here's the result.

Armok smiled upon me. It's not the best artifact hammer ever, but it is BADASS (except for the name, well you can't have everything). And much better than most other artifacts I have made. To honor him, I will make sure that this hammer will bathe in goblin blood as soon as possible !

Also I now have a legendary +5 weaponsmith. And plenty of iron, and the dwarves bring me plenty of steel, pig iron, iron ore and flux. HELL YES.

Some progress has been made on the cathedral, but it is still and only 1-storey high. It is closed however, and now I have finished the magma moat and the cathedral's wall is enclosed. So goblins can come !

I have issues with my baron however. His room is super-quality, but he keeps being on break. As he is an important dwarf, I don't want him to become useless. Maybe it's because his consort's room is of lesser quality ?

Second cathedral Z-level is made.

Also i just got my fortress's first forgotten beast. A giant crocodile with noxious secretions. I sense trouble, but as it is "noxious" rather than "deadly" I see no problem. It regularly gets out puffes of white smoke "boiling forgotten beast extract"

I take all my "military", that is in fact mostly my starting seven and who are blissfully untrained, excepted for 2 marksdwarves (one is legendary) that are my hunters, and go charge at it and bash at it.

The forgotten beast climbs all the way to my main fortress, where it gets attacked by masses of dogs AND my marksdwarves who were gathering equipment, crippling it.

Then the melee warriors arrive (2 hammerdwarves including my baron with a legendary iron hammer, 1 axedwarf, 3 war miners) and start to wail on it.

It takes a bit of time, but they manage to kill it without any loss. But it was pretty much 10 dogs and 7 dwarves against 1 forgotten beast, so...

Now problem, a good bit of my fort is dizzy and I have no idea how the hell to solve this problem. Is this temporary ? Do I need to clean my dwarves ?

I am also making something like this. It is going to be 90x90, and is set in the middle of a desert, with no surface water. I have turned invasions off, but besides that, haven't modded the game outside of a RAW tweak about shells and a custom worldgen to make the map shallow. With no easy access to water, just the location is proving a challenge. Granted, there is a small cavern with water, I just need to worry about the cave Kroks and the giant olms, among other critters.

I am nearing the end of my third year, and still in the middle of building the outer structure. of the first floor.

Yeah I have water myself. The goblins aren't attacking, I remember having put invasions on though???

Also I have caught three blood men. First time i ever see these critters.

And a tiger cub was born ! That I find much cuter than these kobolds.... Soon he will be a ferocious predator, ready to defend Armok's Cathedral !

Just finished the first layer of the first floor, 3 more to go before it is finished. I still need to build the pump stacks, and I have started construction on a 5x mega dwarven reactor. The reactor I designed is a monster, able to make 2000 power. Only problem is you need a reactor to even start the reactor, so the end output is only about 1800 power, and needs to be started in disconnect mode or the entire assembly will freeze

Well, I just got my first gobbo attack.

I danger room'd my soldiers well, and i have plenty of armor (not to mention a good amount of steel bars and a legendary +5 weaponsmith) so no problem.

And my baron is hilariously useless. I gave him a badass name "Warrior Noble" and trained him in the danger room with the others, so... Even with near full steel armor, adept hammerman, expert fighter, and an artifact hammer, he did not get a single swing at a goblin, but managed to took a goblin copper bolt WHICH WENT THROUGH -STEEL GREAVES- and broke his leg. He has been whining since then and is now in hospital. I am wondering if I should kill him really.

My crossbowdwarves and hammerdwarves faired quite well however. Oh and these goblins accompagnied an elf caravan. Who brought mostly useless junk. A few tamed animals but nothing much. I traded them an exceptional large serrated silver disc for one cheetah, a few barrels, plants and drink. They probably don't deserve it, and are ecstatic now, but maybe they'll bring less crap next time.

6 years.

It has taken my dwarves nearly 6 years, just to finish all the mechanical and masonry needed to even start the structure casting itself. Fortunately, I don't have any nobles breathing down my neck aside from the mayor.

I did a floorplan, and for the general essentials. Living quarters, meeting area. I only need 2 floors. I also have planned a grand throne room and a mosaic. Commoners get 2x4 rooms, and nobles get three 4x6 rooms. I also plan two tombs, as is needed for the duke and monarch. I am open to suggestions as to what else to put in this monster.

To give everyone a general idea of the scale of this, it takes up a full quarter of a 4x4 embark. Here is a screenshot.

Yes, that cat is going to be a sacrifice. I am tempted to sacrifice a fair number of dwarves also. I got 223.

Well, I just moved my 31.18 Armok Cathedral to 31.24.

AND NOW I CANNOT MAKE A SOAP MAKER'S WORKSHOP BECAUSE I REMOVED THE REACTIONS FROM ENTITY_DEFAULT GODDAMNIT.

I'm going to play with entity_default and see how it works.

Edit: Oh, goodie. I just fucked up my 0.24 save.

Time to clean up the mess AND reload the original 0.31.18 save to 31.24. Too bad for the soap.
