help! I settled in a flood plain
« on: February 24, 2008, 01:33:00 am »

I'll just let the movie tell the story(I just settled here a few secs ago, and half of the ground was already covered with water): http://www.mkv25.net/dfma/movie-359-floodplainofdoom

I've got a save after this happened and can tell you exactly where I settled and unload a copy of world if you want me to toady.

I'm guessing exposed aquifer.  I was wondering if that sort of thing was possible, and what would happen if it was.

Did your dwarves drown, or did they get enough swimming skill by the time the water got too high?  Might be a great opportunity to build a fort from the shambles, just get to high ground and dry yourself off.

That would be the underwater fortress opportunity some people have been looking for. I find it fascinating even if it is a bug.

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

Well I would give it to you but I deleted it last night(when I downloaded the new version) because I'm a tard and forgot about this error. But I did try to use my comp's go back program to restore my system to last night's settings so I could get the save. However do to catastrophic human error on my part I reset my entire comp to it's original factory settings  :( and it appears there is no way to undo this. So for now I'm trying desperately to get everything back to the way it was before... Sorry  :(

You know...you could have just gone into the recycle bin...
System restore does a hell of a lot more than you need (and sometimes: not enough).

There are those of us who do not bother with the recycle bin, and simply shift+delete.

I'd already deleted it from my recycle bin(it's bad habit I have).

I put stuff in the recycle bin all the time under the "I may want this back, I can't think of why now, but I know that in a couple days it might come up."

Then when it does, voila, I have the file.

And occationally I do go through and permenently delete stuff.  Ussualy when I'm low on disc space.
