You could create a plant called muffins then have the reaction produce the muffin plants.

So yes it would be possible, but it wouldn't be a dwarven ale muffin minced with elephant meat.

So in other words 'no' then?

Probably she wanted specific recipe. I would love to have this functionality, I would make a "dwarven cookbook" mod then. But alas, it looks like it's not possible yet.

Actually, she (note the "girl"inhat :P) wants to make prepared meals as an adventurer, or require them for reactions.  Like requiring a stack of biscuits to make... something.  I'm not sure, I hadn't gotten as far as deciding what I actually wanted to do.

Sorry about that, I didn't notice it's you :).

Yeah, I would love this option to make different recipes for my adventurer as well. Omelets with minced leek, yummy :P.

I actually hadn't considered recipes, but that would be an awesome use.  I think most people have agreed though, that prepared meals are a stand-in measure that allows for better food than raw, but isn't as "polished" as the eating system could be.  Like the way your dwarves will gladly consist on mushrooms and wine for their entire lives.  Culinary Arc, anyone?

Maybe?  I'm no expert on these unused item tokens, but it seems to me that that should work.

but then how would you define the rest of the ingredients?

You wouldn't?  No reaction (nor the entire game, really) can support multiple materials on a single item.
Meals as they are are "hacked in", comprised of one of the ingredients and "improved" with the other 1-3.

Does this imply that you can make a custom reaction that adds an improvement, and that improvement could be food?

This is a well-made Microcline table.  It contains finely minced steel.  It is adorned with hanging rings of iron.

Maybe you could make a bunch of fake plants, such as the Omelet Plant, and have the "fruit" produced from a custom reaction involving e.g. egg, cheese, and quarry leaves.  The value of the fruit could be high, so that the food would be satisfying.  It wouldn't get extra marks for quality, though.
