Spoiler (click to show/hide)

"All Ahead Full, and Damn the Torpedoes!"
"Aye Sir, Damning the Torpedoes!"
*4 Coherent beams of light spit from the side of the Justicar, spearing a small flight of Torpedoes and destroying them.*
"Torpedoes Damned, sir. Another Flight is approaching, but they should hit us on our Armoured Prow. We'll not be taking any damage today!"

Meanwhile, on the Rhadamanthine.
"Torpedoes Incoming sir!"
"What!? Where did they come from?"
"They appear to have been aimed at the Justicar, it's sheer bad luck that our course change brought us into their range, sir."
"Very well, Captain. They don't appear to threaten much more than our shields. We shall ignore them."

All the torps missed, I'm afraid.

I've changed Imperial Ordinance to be Green, so the masses of shit enveloping the southern area isn't too complicated. There's 2 squadrons of fighters protecting the southern escort, 1 on the centre and 1 on the Justicar.

I'd recommend that the Imperial group try to bunch up a bit more and mass turrets against the waves of Chaos ordnance.

Orders:
Unforgivable and Deathbane turn Starboard 45 degrees and advance slow - let's get into lance range before turning and starting to fire on the Imperial ships

Small craft:
Bomber wave, continue towards the Justicar, fighters move to engage the Imperial fighters as much as possible. Assault boats continue towards their targets.

Whups.

Killfrenzy...20cm forward, turn to starboard, and weapons into the Justicar.

Malignus Maximus, attempt Lock On and move forward, trying to get Justicar into range and front arc to open up with lance fire. Failign to get the Justicar in sighs, open fire on whatever.

Damnator squadron, escort alongside Killfrenzy and shoot at what it's targeting.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Lances hammer out from the Chaos Heavy Cruiser; All four blinding beams of light easily finding their mark. Unfortunately, it appears the opposing Imperial Captain noticed his plight and had diverted power from his weapons to his shields. Still, the barrage reduced the power of his forward shields to nothing, and taxed his Generators to their limits; any further shots at the ship had a 50% chance of making it through without being interdicted by his remaining shields. Further shots arrived quickly, the KILLFRENZY and its escorts moving very close to the Justicar and unleashing barrages of Plasma and shellfire at it, coupled with the Blinding light of the KILLFRENZY's lances. In typical chaos fashion, however, their enthusiasm outmatched their accuracy by a long way, scoring only five hits on the Cruiser, three of which were deflected by the Cruiser's failing shields. Nontheless, two hits got through, and the mighty ship shuddered as a Lance strike hammered into its starboard armour, quickly followed by a spray of Laser fire from one of the Escorts.

Determined not to be outdone, the Chaos Fighter Jocks swept down the Imperial line, some of them peeling off to hit each group of Imperial Fighters, effectively clearing the way for their Bombers and Assault Boats to hit the enemy. And hit them they did, Both squadrons of assault boats avoiding the point defense fire from the escorts and bearing down upon them, before disgorging their deadly cargo into the heart of the small ships, where they quickly planted Melta Charges, detonating both ships in terrible explosions. The Bombers, however, did not fare anywhere near as well, losing one of their squads to the point defense fire from the Justicar, and the other being driven away without being able to drop bombs.

First casualties, the Assault Boats easily wipe out two of the Imperial Escorts. The Bombers fare badly against the Justicar, losing one to turret fire and the other rolling a 1 for amount of hits. The Justicar loses both shields and takes two hits, but she's got 6 more points and isn't out yet. Her firepower next turn is halved, due to the power being diverted to shields. She rolled damn well for her Brace rolls, I expected her to be crippled at the very least.

Damn Killfrenzy! Can't even tell Port From Starboard! And Weapons batteries before lances, etc, etc. I can't tell from what you posted in the fluff though, but BFI does not work for shields, only hull hits. And I can't tell at all how effective the MM's lances were, four locked on lances should get about three hits. Could you be more descriptive about what actually happened outside of the fluff?

You got 4 hits, two on shields, 2 saved by BFI. (rolls for BFI were utterly ridiculous.)

And, uhm, sorry. Never been great at remembering the order in which shit happens, or, indeed, my left and right. Still, more BFI rolls would not have been good for you; he only failed 2 out of something like 7.

If you want I'll redo with the Killfrenzy going the right way.

Nah, too late now I'd think, I'm just gonna have to rework the plans I had in mind for the Justicar. And more rolls is more rolls man, more rolls he could have possibly failed. That's why you shoot WB's before lances, so the WB's don't get degraded by the BMs the lances inevitably put up. Though this is probably gonna screw Chaos over, since you'll remember to do it for the Imperials and give them better shots. Whoo...
