broker/bookeeper
« on: November 19, 2007, 03:20:00 am »

the clerk/book keeper reached legendary in 2 seasons
not a bad problem
but now all he wants to do is sit at his desk and check the inventories
he is also assigned to report to the depot to trade
the stocks are up to date with absolute accuracy - no reason for him to continue that job since it is finished, for now

is there a problem assigning a dwarf to two noble tasks (broker and book keeper) that after aquiring legendary accounting he prefers to check the numbers every day and play in his pile of gold instead of do civil ciitzen duties such as make trade and commerce with the visitors?

his personality doesnt appear to have many negative traits with socials

lower the bookeeper preferences from "highest" down to "high".  Since they are already at "highest" he should stop checking the stocks and do other stuff.

correction, legendary record keeper in 2 seasons

i removed him from book keeping and now all he wants to do is store items in stock piles

i removed and reassigned him (novice appraiser) to broker and removed and reissued broker needed at depot

we'll see where his priorities lie

It's just a matter of assigned workload. Bookkeeping to maximum accuracy requires a lot of work (hence being legendary so fast), so you can't expect the dwarf to also do other duties as well. It would be the same if you assigned a really busy Mason to be the broker, he'd probably be too busy with his Masonry work to see the traders. Until there's a way to change job priorities, just assign a separate dwarf to be the broker.

I like using unskilled peasants. Losing a little extra hauling power is no sweat compared to missing a trade caravan.
