So i captured my first semi-megabeast.

Apparantly a cage trap and a lead cage are enough to trap "The giantess Bosteb Tataunlo. a gigantic creature resembling a human, almost unparalleled in size."
The question however is, what will we do with this fine specimen?

Can't tame it, can't butcher it, can't eat it either way...

You could, I don't know... chain it somewhere or build the cage somewhere. A built giant cage is pretty valuable and dwarves like staring at it.
Deploy it against sieges in emergencies.

How about putting it into some pit and then drowning it in either water or magma? At least you can test and see if it can survive that he he.

Giants are underwhelming in combat (I think because the game doesn't really treat size properly) so it's not much use as a trap for sieges, since a single armed goblin will most likely kill it. Build it and use it as a zoo, but be aware that it might get sabotaged by tantruming dwarves.

Socks inspire the same sort of emotions in dwarfs that Helen of Troy inspired in the Achaean Greeks. Although it is said that Helen's face launched a thousand ships, socks have surely launched a million ultimately-fatal Store Owned Item tasks.

Then a zoo it shall be!
Too bad its not strong enough to dispose of the 17 goblin ambushers i just caught. Oh well.

What.

The goblin will get grabbed, thrown, and blown apart against an obstacle.
Or strangled to death due to said grabbing.

multiple goblins on the other hand

To the zoo with it! I once tried to make a giant-based goblin trap, but it turns out that giants are quite mediocre in combat, and fail massively in the face of edged weapons. Dragons, on the other hand...

Giants make wonderful arena combatants, just strip the goblins down, take their weapons especially.  Then its pretty much giant endlessly trains, becomes a legendary wrestler and start launching goblins about.

Other than an arena/pit combatant megabeasts and other monsters that have received a name will persist in an adventurer embark if placed in a cage with a lever.

I made a tiny arena, and had to sacrifice an useless immigrant to pit him into the arena, but it worked.
I'm now going to push in my naked goblin prisoners... one by one.

And i dumped some training swords down there, no idea if they'll pick them up.

An armed goblin would be able to kill a giant easily.

A naked one won't though.
