A Health Question
« on: March 07, 2011, 01:16:50 pm »

One of my marksdwarves lost his left hand, yet no treatment is scheduled for him. The doctor evaluated him but never assigned any treatment or did any. Is this normal?

As it turns out, the pen was in fact a poor choice for melee combat in comparison to the sword.
So I just started playing this game and I accidentally nuked the moon.

I mean... what would he do?  Stick a peg-arm on him?  Give him a slap on the shoulder and a mug of booze?  This level of medical science cannot really DO anything for a missing limb.

You have a point. At least, until Toady adds peg-arms and peg-legs and axe-hands. Speaking of medical quaestions, how do I get my axedwarf out of his coma? He's fine but refuses to wake up from the hospital.

Is his missing any feet/legs or suffering motor nerve damage to the legs?  If so, he'll never walk again.  Currently no one will ever use crutches, and until that's fixed anyone who's lost the ability to walk becomes a permanent invalid.  You could build him a very morbid "living tomb" and place his coffin in front of his bed, then refuse to water him...

He has no health problems. And losing the ability to walk doesn't mean it's permanent.

It does if it's a permanent disability.  Lost feet/legs and motor nerve damage are permanent.  Broken bones will heal.  Check his description and see if limbs are missing, then his health screen to see if "Ability to Stand Lost"

He lost no limbs and there is no "Ability to stand lost". I guess I'll just have to lock his door.

How long has it been?  He may still be recovering?
